Atlas of the Law

From the beginning, every human being born under the weight of the Law, has been crushed by it, and died. But the Christian God is not one who removes the Law, or gives an easier one. The God who we believe in, sets aside His infinite power to stoop down lift up the crushing burden of the Law himself. Under the crushing weight of the Law, he lives the life of a human being. A life of limited knowledge. A life of doubt, a life of fear, a life of sadness. Yet he does not bend or break - but stands firm - not as a God, but as one of us. And because he bears the weight of the Law on his own shoulders – he is able to provide shelter from its crushing weight, for us.
Not only that, but because he died as one "uncrushed", he is now able to stand for humanity in the presence of God. And now, since the weight of the Law is born “up there” so to speak, Jesus has opened up a way for us to stand and live in the presence of God forever.
