Outside the Box: Disbelief

Alex found Mark tending to his garden which remarkably yeilded more food each year, than Alex had ever been able to grow in his own.  He didn't greet the man until he was practically on top of him. He crouched down and though he was still a bit hysterical, he spoke softly - like someone in hiding. "I saw someone yesterday".
"SHIT!" Mark said, clearly startled - "WHY DO YOU SNEAK UP ON A PERSON LIKE THAT?"
"I'm Sorry. I just wanted to tell you. I saw someone yesterday."
"Who?"
"That's the thing. I don't know."
Mark's set down his stone trowel, the stone he had almost shoved into Alex's stomach. His face had a look of bewilderment. He understood the words, but what he was saying made no sense to him at all "You forgot his name?" he asked in a desperate grasp at clarity.
"No." said Alex. "I've never seen him before in my life."
"WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!"
"I mean, in all the years I've lived I have never seen that person before."
"That's impossible."
"I know."
"You we're asleep"
"No, I came here right afterwards."
"Well then you're hallucinating."
