Faith/Belief is NOT a Work

 Belief in itself does not have the power to save - this is why it is wrong to call it a work. The bible never refers to faith as a work.
  • by grace through faith (NOT) works - Eph 2:8;
  • "Faith without works is dead" - James 2:14-26;
  • "Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness" - Romans 4:4-5.
So you see, faith is always contrasted with works, therefore it is unbiblical to refer to faith as a work.
